Bondi – Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Welcome to Bondi. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to the following Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Please read carefully before registering.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Bondi.
- You must provide accurate information, including your date of birth, gender, and height.
- Accounts with false or misleading information may be suspended or removed.
- We do not knowingly allow use of Bondi by minors under 18. If discovered, such accounts will be deleted immediately.
2. Registration & Verification
- To access browsing and matching features, you must complete Bondi’s selfie verification process.
- The verification selfie is processed locally on your device and is not stored on Bondi’s servers.
- If you reinstall Bondi or switch devices, you must retake the selfie to regain verified status.
3. Data We Collect
- Account Data: email address, password, phone number, date of birth, gender.
- Profile Data: name, bio, height, photos, selected interests, and preferences.
- Location Data: approximate city-level location (based on your provided settings).
- Interactions: likes, dislikes, favorites, matches, messages, blocks, reports.
- Technical Data: only a timestamp of your last activity and a Firebase Cloud Messaging token for notifications.
- Verification Data: your selfie is processed only locally for verification.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Provide browsing, matching, and messaging services.
- Enable filters (age, height, distance).
- Maintain safety, including blocking, reporting, and moderation.
- Improve the app experience through user feedback.
Legal bases under GDPR:
- Contractual necessity (to provide our services).
- Legitimate interest (safety, fraud prevention, moderation).
- Consent (optional features such as photo uploads and interests).
5. Data Storage & Sharing
- We do not sell your data.
- Limited data (e.g., FCM tokens) is shared with Google Firebase for notifications.
- Profile and interaction data are stored securely on Google Firestore and MongoDB Atlas.
- Public profile photos are hosted by Imgur and may be accessible via public URLs.
- Depending on your location, we may use EU or US servers for better performance.
- Moderation reports may be reviewed by trusted third-party services for safety.
- Data transfers outside the EU/EEA (e.g., to the US) use legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
6. Safety, Conduct & Content
- Be respectful, honest, and lawful when using Bondi.
- Do not harass, abuse, impersonate, or exploit other users.
- Do not post illegal, harmful, hateful, or explicit content.
- Only upload appropriate photos.
- You can block or report users who behave inappropriately.
- Do not click external links shared by users.
- Bondi reserves the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
7. Your Rights (GDPR / EEA Users)
If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access your stored personal data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Correct or update inaccurate information.
- Export your data (data portability).
- Withdraw consent, where applicable.
- Block or report other users safely within the app.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion
- All user data is deleted when an account is deleted.
- We do not retain data beyond this point, except as required for legal obligations (e.g., fraud or abuse reports).
- Inactive accounts may be paused after 30 days and permanently deleted after 6 months.
9. Subscriptions & Payments
- Some features are premium and require payment via Google Play.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.
- Refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy.
10. Liability & Disclaimers
- Bondi is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
- We are not responsible for the behavior of other users, nor for offline meetings or relationships formed.
- Users are solely responsible for the content they share.
11. Governing Law & Disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and Estonia.
- Disputes are handled by Estonian courts, unless EU law requires otherwise.
12. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms and Privacy Policy.
- Significant changes will be communicated in-app.
- Continued use of Bondi means you accept the revised terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not create an account.
